Painted/Coated pencils should not exist and all production should stop.

Not going to happen, but it’s a fact.

Pencils have to be sharpened to be used.
Sharpening turns the paint on pencils into micro + nano plastics.

Whether stuck on your/your children’s hands (like glitter which is also just ground up plastic), or washed down the drain - it introduces tiny bits of plastic into the air/water/soil and into our bodies.

Are they harmful?
Not according to the industry responsible for them (Oil/Petrochemical) - amounts still fall within allowable levels of plastic in our bodies.
Say what you will, they’re not vitamins.
Given the choice, we would opt not to have bits of plastic in our brains - you can keep your research on that one, we’re a hard pass.
